Special Arabic Letters

Some Arabic letters do not exist in English and may require practice:

ح (Haa)

A deep “H” sound produced from the throat.

خ (Khaa)

Similar to the “ch” sound in the Scottish word “Loch”.

ع (Ain)

A unique Arabic sound produced from the throat.

غ (Ghain)

A deep “GH” sound.

ق (Qaf)

A strong “K” sound pronounced from the back of the mouth.


Arabic Writing Direction

Arabic is written from right to left.
