Chapter 8
The Two Sons of Adam Opening Verse "And recite to them in truth the story of the children of Adam. Each one offered a sacrifice, and it was accepted from one of them but not from the brothers. The brothers said, 'I will surely kill you.' The brothers said, 'Indeed, Allah does not accept from the righteous.'" Quran 5:27 ⸻ The Story As the descendants of Adam grew and spread across the earth, the first human family witnessed the first great moral test between two brothers. The Quran recounts the story without naming them, referring to them only as the two sons of Adam, drawing attention to the lesson rather than the personal details. Each brother offered a sacrifice to God. One sacrifice was accepted, and the other was rejected.
