How the Incident Unfolded
Investigators say the woman had met a man on the evening of 19 May, initially intending to buy a small amount of hashish. He allegedly convinced her to follow him, after which she was forced into a van and taken to an illegally occupied building in the Tor Cervara area.
Inside the structure, she was held for over 72 hours. Police reports indicate that several men took turns abusing her while she was kept in a drug‑induced state that limited her ability to resist or escape.
The Escape and Rescue
On the third day, the woman managed to break free and reach the street, where a passerby noticed her distress and immediately called emergency services. She was taken to Policlinico Casilino, where medical examinations confirmed signs consistent with prolonged violence and the effects of narcotic substances.
Police Operation and Arrests
Following her testimony, police units from the Mobile Squad and Prenestino District raided the abandoned building.
Five men — all foreign nationals without legal residency — were identified by the victim and placed under detention on charges of aggravated gang sexual assault.
Eleven additional individuals, also irregular migrants found inside the building, received expulsion orders and were transferred to immigration detention centers.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities are continuing to examine the circumstances of the kidnapping, including the possible theft of the victim’s phone and documents, and whether additional individuals may have been involved.
