Chapter 11---Thamud and Their Prophet Salih

   — Thamud and Their Prophet Salih Opening Verse “And to Thamud We sent their brother Salih. He said, ‘O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him.’” — Qur’an 7:73 The Story After the people of ‘Ad, Allah tells us about Thamud , another ancient nation that received a prophet from among their own people. Allah sent Salih to them. Like Nuh and Hud before him, Salih began with the same essential call: Worship Allah alone. He reminded his people that Allah had created them and established them on the earth. They lived among its plains and built homes in the mountains. Allah says: “And remember when He made you successors after ‘Ad and settled you in the land. You take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve the mountains into homes.” — Qur’an 7:74 Salih called them to repentance and obedience to Allah, but many of them rejected his message. The Sign of the She-Camel The people of Thamud demanded a sign from Salih. Allah gave them a clear sign: the she-c...

Hanno sfidato Hud e me...

Chapter 9 The Rise of Idolatry and the Mission of Nuh

The Rise of Idolatry and the Mission of Nuh "Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn your people before a painful punishment comes to them.'" — Qur'an 71:1 The Story Generations passed after Adam, and the descendants of mankind increased across the earth. The people continued for a time upon the worship of Allah alone. Then something changed. People began to honor certain righteous individuals who had lived among them. After those righteous people died, their memory remained among their descendants. The Qur'an mentions the names: Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, and Nasr. These names are mentioned in the words of the people of Nuh: "Never abandon your gods, and never abandon Wadd, Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, or Nasr." — Qur'an 71:23 According to the explanation transmitted by Ibn Abbas and recorded by al-Bukhari, these were names of righteous people among the people of...

The Two Sons of Adam Opening Verse "And recite to them in truth the story of the children of Adam. Each one offered a sacrifice, and it was accepted from one of them but not from the brothers. The brothers said, 'I will surely kill you.' The brothers said, 'Indeed, Allah does not accept from the righteous.'" Quran 5:27 ⸻ The Story As the descendants of Adam grew and spread across the earth, the first human family witnessed the first great moral test between two brothers. The Quran recounts the story without naming them, referring to them only as the two sons of Adam, drawing attention to the lesson rather than the personal details. Each brother offered a sacrifice to God. One sacrifice was accepted, and the other was rejected. The Quran does not describe the nature of either sacrifice, nor does it explain how the acceptance of the sacrifice was announced. It simply states that one offering was accepted and the other was rejected. Instead of reflecting on his ...

The Descent to Earth Opening Verse “We said, ‘Go down, all of you, as enemies to one another. On the earth you will have a dwelling place and provision for a time.’” — Qur’an 2:36 The Story After accepting Adam’s repentance, Allah decreed that Adam, his wife, and Iblis would descend from Paradise. This descent was not beyond Allah’s knowledge or wisdom. It was part of His eternal plan, for He had already declared that He would place a khalifah upon the earth. The earth would become the home of humanity. It would be a place of worship, responsibility, trials, and mercy. Human life on earth was never meant to be permanent. It was the beginning of a journey that would end with resurrection, judgment, and the everlasting life to come. Before Adam and his wife began their life on earth, Allah addressed them with guidance. He made it clear that guidance would continue to come from Him. Whenever His guidance reached mankind, those who followed it would have no reason to fear th...
